Plymouth Environmental was founded in 1990 with a simple idea — that environmental remediation should be done the right way, by people who answer their phones. Three and a half decades later, that's still how we run.
Plymouth Environmental was founded in 1990 in a single small office with a single truck and a single principle — that environmental remediation work should be done the right way, every time, no shortcuts. The founders saw a young industry that was still figuring out its standards, and they made a decision early: Plymouth would be on the side of doing it right.
The first decade was about earning trust one project at a time. The relationships that formed in those early years — with general contractors, school districts, hospitals, and industrial clients across Pennsylvania — are still active today. Many of our institutional clients have been with Plymouth for 20 or 30 years, and their continued trust is the reputation we work to deserve every day.
As Plymouth grew through the 1990s and 2000s, we expanded geographically into New Jersey and Delaware, added service lines as client needs evolved, and built out a field team capable of handling everything from a single-room abatement to a multi-million-dollar plant decommissioning. Through all of it, we stayed family-owned — a deliberate choice, even as much of the industry consolidated.
Today, Plymouth is 75+ trained field specialists including dedicated superintendents each with 35+ years experience, three states, eight service lines, and projects ranging from $1,000 service calls to $5 million-plus multi-phase programs. The founding family is still actively involved, the values haven't changed, and the closeout packages we deliver today are still the kind of documentation our clients reference decades later.
What we do has grown. How we do it hasn't.
Reliability is the first promise we make and the easiest one to break. Plymouth shows up — at 7 AM on a Monday, on the day we said we would, with the people we said would be there. 37 years of showing up is how we built this company.
The work is technical, the regulations are unforgiving, and the consequences of cutting corners outlast any project. We do remediation by the book — not because we have to, but because the buildings, the occupants, and our crews deserve it.
The documentation we deliver at project closeout is meant to outlast the project — to support a sale 20 years later, to defend an audit, to inform the next contractor. Plymouth's closeout packages are still being referenced on projects we completed in the 1990s.
Family-owned isn't a marketing line for us. It's the operating model. Decisions get made fast. Relationships outlast project closeouts. The people you meet at kickoff are the people who'll answer your call five years later. That's not changing.
Our field team is the company. They're the ones in containment at 5 AM, on a hospital site over the weekend, on a university campus the week before classes start.
Many have been with Plymouth for 10, 15, even 20+ years. The depth of experience our crews bring to every project is something we couldn't build in less than 37 years — and it's what our clients trust most.
